Practice of one extract with the two exam style questions

How does the trailer use media language to catch the attention of the audience?
The trailer used media language to catch the attention of the audience in many different ways. The most media language used throughout the trailer is editing as this relates with the movies genre of fantasy. The lighting used is also mainly High key lighting as people are seen as there is not a distorted effect. However at some points low key lighting is also used such as in the Voltaire, this symbolizes the darkness of the Volt airy and exaggerates their importance. The sounds which are played are diagetic as it relates with the happenings of the trailer, succh as fast paced music for when there is fast movements. Also there's a variety of camera angels such as close ups, big close ups, medium shots, long shots etc, angels such as big close up on Bella Swan's eye emphasis' her change from a human to a vampire.

How is gender represented in the trailer?
Throughout the trailer we see a variety of both men and women, with the same amount of power. However, we are immediately identified with the target audience being teenagers and young adults aged 12-26 years of age (mostly girls). We know this is to mainly girls as there is not much action and blood, however there is built men and fantasy features such as sparkling bodies, bright eyes etc; these features are used mainly to draw the audience in. We could say this goes to all class's but mainly working class, although people do not believe in what happens in the story they end up being in the 'fantasy' along with the characters.
