MEDIA FORMS ANALYSIS - RODDEN

Cinema poster and NME poster

Similarities: The narratives to both of these are shown through the characters body language and actions therefore also relates to how the characters are presented. In the cinema poster the character are puking on the word manors or puking the word manors out this could connote two things which are that all character do not have manors or have lost their manors or this could mean that they do not respect the 'manor' in which they may live in. In similarity the characters also portray the narrative in the NME poster as Plan B would is the director of the movie ill manors is shown in a close up on the middle of the poster. Also he has got his middle finger up therefore showing no respect at all as he is swearing. He has also got a hat on along with a unlit cigarette in his mouth therefore showing that he is careless and has a lack of manors. The settings of both the posters leaves the audience wondering why they are doing the things that they are and why they are presented in these sorts of settings. The cinema poster leaves audiences wanted to know why there is such a disgust towards the word manors and the NME poster leave the audience members wondering on why the character is being presented in such as way in the setting of cigarettes and swearing and what the story behind it may be.

Differences: The settings are shown very differently in both of these posters as in the cinema poster the backing is blood red therefore presenting blood violence and also portraying the possible narrative. However, in the NME poster the background setting is black and plain with some writing therefore this has more of a magazine cover setting and also this does not give as much of the narrative as well therefore leaving audience members wondering more than what the cinema would leave them as. Also iconography is very different as in the cinema poster the iconography is the vomit which is over the word manors where as with the NME poster there is iconography of a cigarette, hat and writing.therefore both posters are showing the lack of manors however this is done in completely different ways.
