Production planning; progress week one.

During the first week me and Raghav have done most work such as planning what channel our production would be shown on. The channel that we have chosen is Channel 4, the reason to why we have chosen this is because it already shows program which appeal to out target audience and are very popular therefore this makes us aware that there is a possibility that our show would also be taken into interest by our target audience. This was a vital step in our planning - hence we chose to plan this first - as by knowing what channel our program is about to star on we will be able to do good research and will be able to find the right type of information as well as being able to look at other programs which may also interest us and which we might be able to get all sorts of ideas from.

Me and Raghav again tried deciding on a genre. This was the hardest point of planning as everyone had different ideas for the production. Arjan also gave a few ideas at this point. As a group we than decided that our genre would be 'docudrama' focusing on gang crime. We thought this is a good idea as being teenagers we are aware of 'gang crime' and have seen it ourselves, also because it attracts our target audience as 12-18 year olds are interested in teenage everyday affairs such as gang crime and prisons and youth offenders.

We then started to take action, as Raghav started to Google numbers for the local youth offenders and prison I took down numbers and began to call them. At first we got had no chance as the Feltham youth offenders and Hammersmith prison cut the phone as soon as they heard we were from Greenford High School this was because some youth offenders were not welcome to us bringing camera's in and recording or talking to the youths/prisoners. However as i called Acton youth offenders, the lady took my name down and number and said she will call back.
